TV Season Laid To Rest Once Again
I was talking to someone the other day about this --- and someone else had mentioned it in an e-mail a couple of weeks back --- but I bet there are hundreds of thousands of people out there who hate it when the TV season comes to an end in May and we're just left hanging, waiting for something to entertain us when we get home from work and want nothing more than to plan our asses in front of the TV.
Despite what TV execs might think, not all of us have fantastically interesting lives and loads of fun things to do every night now that the summer is upon us once again.
No.
Unfortunately, the only difference between an average work week in August and in February is that it's too hot in August to do anything.
Okay, here's a thought: for shows that have gotten overall, positive critical reviews like Arrested Development, they should show those during the summer --- give it a trial run the way the O.C. was introduced. I mean, c'mon: let's face facts here. The O.C. just isn't a very good show. Most of us watched it religiously because that was the only new show on.
And instead of yanking a show after only two episodes, give it a bit more time...like four episodes instead. And maybe do what FOX did with the O.C. Repeat the same episode several times throughout the course of a week in order for people to have ample time to tune in.
We can say all we want about the FOX network, but the way they handled the publicity campaign for the O.C. was just bloody brilliant.
