Someone sent me this quote from Don Miguel Ruiz's "The Mastery of Love" today:
"If you tell someone you love him and that person says, "Well, I don't love you", is that a reason to suffer? Just because someone rejects you doesn't mean you have to reject yoruself. If one person doesn't love you, someone else will love you. There is always someone else. And it's better to be with someone who wants to be with you than to be with someone who has to be with you."
And it just made me think that it's probably stupidest thing in the world to say that there is always someone else, because sometimes, there isn't. We've all heard the saying that there's plenty of fish in the sea. But if that were true, so many of us wouldn't have such a bloody hard time finding that one true love that we've been taught by Hollywood to want. There wouldn't be shows like Sex and the City or books like Bridget Jones Diary" or the advent of online dating. We wouldn't all be trying so desperately heard to find someone to help us escape the loneliness of our lives.
Or is this just me?
